Ties and purpose carry weight
Employment, studies, family responsibilities and property can all be relevant. Evidence should reflect your real situation.

Temporary residence
Visiting Canada looks simple on paper. Applications are refused most often for reasons that could have been addressed before filing.
Overview
A Temporary Resident Visa (visitor visa) allows eligible foreign nationals to enter Canada temporarily for tourism, family visits or business meetings. Travellers from visa-exempt countries may instead need an Electronic Travel Authorisation (eTA) when arriving by air.
Officers assess ties to your home country, the purpose of the visit, your financial ability to support the trip, travel history, and whether you are likely to leave Canada at the end of the authorised stay.
Visitors already in Canada may apply to extend their stay through a visitor record before their current status expires.
Who it may suit
Key considerations
Employment, studies, family responsibilities and property can all be relevant. Evidence should reflect your real situation.
Where a host supports the visit, the relationship and financial capacity of the host should be documented clearly.
Immigration history in Canada and elsewhere should be disclosed accurately. Omissions are treated seriously.
Final admission is determined by an officer at the port of entry.
